Be Well

Promoting Mental Health and Well-being through Social Media

In September 2022, the Ottawa Catholic School Board Communications Team launched a year-long social media campaign called “Mental Health Mondays,” using the hashtag #ocsbMentalHealthMonday. The campaign aimed to help students by sharing school-approved mental health resources on social media and encouraging the community to share valuable resources, motivational quotes, and inspiring messages with the hashtag #ocsbMentalHealthMonday. The initiative aimed to make mental health resources more accessible to the OCSB community and support students’ mental health.

The OCSB Communications Team also created a PowerPoint presentation for educators to use in their classrooms. This presentation proved to be a helpful resource that educators leveraged to encourage students to participate in mental health activities in the classroom.

Dr. Richard Bolduc, OCSB’s Mental Health and Well-Being Lead, went above and beyond to support our community. Alongside an impactful social media campaign and presentation, he consistently shared valuable resources throughout the 2022-2023 school year for students, families, and staff. This included his popular “Mental Health Minute” articles, information and resources for parents, promotion of the School Mental Health Ontario website, and additional community resources and support.

The Ottawa Catholic School Board’s strategic commitment to Be Well prioritizes mental health and well-being. There is a strong correlation between mental health and student achievement, and our staff continued to work together this school year to ensure students have a safe and strong foundation to learn.
