Our 18th annual OCSB Special Olympics Swim Meet took place over two days in April at the Nepean Sportsplex, with 223 OCSB students participating. The event was a huge success that resulted in many smiles and produced life-long memories.
The students did an incredible job representing their schools, displaying perseverance, spirit, and enthusiasm. Thanks to the hard work of the co-chairs, organizers, volunteers, and the OCSB Special Education Team, the event was well-organized and ensured that the students had a fantastic time. “The Special Olympics Swim Meet is a great event. It’s amazing to watch our athletes shine, and it was a privilege to be part of the OCSB planning committee,” says Robert Di Nuzzo, Administrative Assistant, Special Education & Student Services.
The event was a great opportunity for teachers and educational assistants to reconnect with their former students. Amanda Salinas, a Special Education Resource Teacher at OCSB, shared a very special moment she had during the event. She was thrilled to meet one of her Grade 5 students again, who is now all grown up and about to graduate. Seeing him filled her with joy and made her day!
