Primary school students from Convent Glen, St. Jerome, and St. Stephen Elementary School embarked on an exciting journey to explore the things that bring them joy. This project started to celebrate joy Board-wide, recognizing our Spiritual Theme, “Gratitude Rooted in Joy, Fills Us With Hope.” Each class created a spiritual study centred around this theme, and the students even went so far as to create video messages to share their joyous experiences with others.
The students also created Christmas ornaments to spread joy and celebrate the Christmas season, which they shared with the School Board community. These heartfelt gifts were given to all CEC staff members and assembled on a special “joy” cart that travelled from one department to another. The staff members learned more about the students who made these keepsakes and bonded as a work family while celebrating joy at the CEC.
A video featuring students across the OCSB celebrated unity and collaboration at OCSB. The heartfelt video showcased the incredible power of song as students from grades 5, 10, and 12 came together to produce the “Joy” video. This project was more than just an audio file; it was a beautiful demonstration of what can be achieved when students and staff work together. Those involved in the project were immensely proud of the multiple schools that participated in this inspiring project, promoting a community based on collaboration and creativity. The Joy Song Project embodies the spirit of unity!
